In 1899, Charles Wakefield founded CC Wakefield & Co Ltd., an oil company
in England. Ten years later, he produced a new lubricant, Castrol, that would
revolutionise transport in the first half of the twentieth century. To this day this name is synonymous with premium quality, high performance and leading
edge technology in motor oils and automotive lubricants.
Castrol lubricants were tested and proved at the very limits of endurance4 a
technique we continue to this day. Many of our motor oils and automotive
